Ms. Beatrice McKnight

"Muff"

Beatrice “Muff” McKnight was born December 9, 1938 to the union of Ora, Sr. and Memphis Jones Tucker in Columbus, Mississippi. She was baptized at an early age and after moving to Kankakee at the age of twelve she joined the Second Baptist Church. Muff completed her education in Kankakee, receiving her GED.

Beatrice had been employed at Manteno Mental Health Center until its closing; transferring to Shapiro Developmental Center where she retired after thirty-eight years of service. She enjoyed cooking, listening to the blues and spending time with her family and friends.

Muff departed this life with family at her side on Sunday, January 15, 2012 at her daughter’s home. She leaves to cherish her memory, sons, Mickey (Marilyn) McKnight, of Kankakee, Lee (Stacey) McKnight of Bourbonnais and Duane McKnight of Kankakee; daughters, Esther Tucker, Janet McKnight, Patricia McKnight & Sonja McKnight all of Kankakee and Sharon (Darry) Reese of Minneapolis, MN; sister, Emma (John) Amen of Kankakee; 23 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great granddaughter and a host of nieces, nephews and special friends.

Waiting to meet her are her parents; daughter, Mona McKnight; brother, Ora Tucker, Jr. and grandchildren, Jason Hatcher and Ollie Hill.

Funeral Information

A gathering of family and friends will be on Sunday, January 22, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Jones Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will also be on Monday, January 23, from 10 to the 11 a.m. service at the Second Baptist Church, 717 North Wildwood Ave. Burial will be in Mound Grove Garden of Memory. Pastor Tyler Prude will officiate and Rev. Antoine Tucker is the eulogist.
