Obituary for Gwen Gail Harris

Gwen Gail Harris was born June 27, 1969 in Hollandale, MS to V.L. and Carrie Mae Johnson Wilson. Gwen was baptized at an early age at the Second Baptist Church under Rev. James M. Smith.

Gwen was a homemaker, devoted wife and loving mother. Gwen enjoyed singing and praising the Lord at all times. Her favorite hobbies were fishing and enjoying time with her family.

Gwen traded time for life eternal on Monday morning August 5, 2019 at home with family. She leaves cherished memories with her husband, who she wed on April 26, 2002; they enjoyed thirty-six years of unconditional love. To this union seven children were born, six survive; two daughters, Lacethia (Eric) Harris and Surevone (Wright) Harris both of Kankakee; four sons, Sammie Harris, Jr., Gerone (Amanda) Harris, Vincent Harris all of Kankakee and Timothy Harris of Orlando, FL; four grandchildren, Joseph and Brenda Harris, Erykah Mays and Nevaeh Brown all of Kankakee; three brothers, Jerry (Lynnette) Johnson, LV Wilson of Kankakee and Stanley Wilson of Anna, IL; eight sisters, Gloria (Jerry) Jones, Geneva (Luther) Wilson, Augustine (Gregory) Hawkins, Annie (Alex) Wilson, Mary (Willie) Brooks, Dorothy (Roy) Wilson, Stacey (Kent) Wilson all of Kankakee and Velma (Demion) Wilson of Oklahoma City, OK; mother-in-law, Annie Harris Bailey; three sisters-in-law, Barbara (David) Watford, Mary Wilson and Sarah (Donnie) Ireland all of Kankakee; three brothers-in-law, Gifford (Tameko) Bailey, Ronnie (Shannon) Bailey and Wayne Mason all of Kankakee; uncle, Linnell Bolden of Kankakee; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends that she loved dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, VL Harris; grandmother, Alberta Johnson; four aunts, an uncle, a brother and two sisters; three nephews.
