Obituary for Lana June Green

Lana June Higginbottom-Green was born on November 21, 1943 in Chicago, IL to the late Orland and Gertrude Tetter Higginbottom. Lana professed a faith in Christ at an early age and while living in Illinois she worshipped at Sacred Heart Church, Hopkins Park, IL.
She departed this life unexpectedly but peacefully on October 12, 2019. She was surrounded by her daughter Karen; son in law, Dennis Carter and granddaughters, Jenea and Dyani in Lake Elsinore, California at the age of seventy five.

She graduated from St. Anne High School in 1961. Thereafter, she attended Northern University in DeKalb, IL to further her education in Business Administration. Soon after, she married Johnnie Green they moved to Hopkins Park, IL where they began to raise their family.

Lana retired as a receptionist from the radio station WKAN/WLRT after seventeen years. While there she received awards for her exemplary dedication to the radio station. Thereafter, she relocated to Atlanta, Georgia to be with her two oldest daughters, Tonja and Fulisha. Although the decision to relocate from Kankakee, IL to Georgia was bitter sweet, she welcomed her first grandson Pierre. After some time, she decided to return to Illinois where she worked for the Senior Aide Program as a receptionist supporting both the Hopkins Park Police Department and the Hopkins Park Planning Department.

Lana was preceded in death by her late brother Orland Jr.

Lana leaves to cherish her memories her four daughters: Tonja Green, Mableton, GA (grandson Pierre Robertson (Stephanie) (great grandsons Zion, Raiden, and Titan); (grandson Patrick Taylor); Fulisha Green, Sun River Terrace, IL; Phyllis Taborn, Justice, IL (grandsons Phillip and Anthony Aaron Taborn) and Karen Carter, Lake Elsinore, CA (Dennis Carter Son-In-law) and (granddaughters Jenea Green and Dyani Carter) Lake Elsinore, CA. Sisters: Yolanda Higginbottom, Dolton, IL; (nephew Dr. Robert Higginbottom, Chicago, (Kimberly Higginbottom, niece); (great nieces, Kennedy, London, Phoenix and India Higginbottom); Gertrude Pickett, Country Club Hills, IL (Kenneth Pickett, brother in-law); (nephews Keith Pickett (Rochelle), Kankakee, IL and Kevin Pickett Glenwood, IL) Donna Kay Higginbottom, Thomaston, GA (nephews, Roger Bills (Carolee) McKinney, TX (great niece Nia Reddick (Geoffrey), (great nephew Nicholas Bills, Brian Hinton, (Brandie) Gulf Breeze, Florida,), (great niece Taylor; great nephews, Grayson, Caspian and Atticus); nephew Dorian Bills (Tammi), Milner, GA (great nephew Wyatt, great niece Journi), Brothers: Fernando Higginbottom, (nephews Carlos and Orlando Higginbottom), Demetrius Higginbottom (Rhonda), Kankakee, IL.

We will remember Lana as being a firm handed but kind, gentle, patient, driven individual as her parents Orland and Gertrude raised her to be by providing a firm family foundation and loving home. With this love she encouraged her children to pursue their goals which made her transition bearable.
