Obituary for Ollie Mae Sims

Ollie Mae Sims was born on August 29, 1924 in Kankakee, Illinois to Willie E and Annie Mae Fleet Benard. She accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age. Ollie received her formal education and graduated from Kankakee School District 111.

On May 19, 1990 she married W.D. Sims, he preceded her in death. Ollie had been employed by and retired from Riverside Medical Center as a Nurse Technician. She loved to play bingo, eat and do lottery scratch off’s.

Ollie departed this life on Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at Riverside Medical Center. She is survived by her nieces, Lorita (her caretaker) (Justin) Harris of Bourbonnais, Marilyn Jackson of Kankakee and Anita Kaye Benard of Sacramento, CA; her nephew, Johnny Jackson of Kankakee; her great-nieces, Ravin Autman, Mila Moore, Kellee Clark and Vicki Clark; great nephews, Landon Fulford, Terry Moore and Tiairus Brewer; goddaughter, Rhonda McBride; special friend, Bernice Watson and a loving caregiver, Kenyatta Davis.

Ollie was also preceded in death by her son, Remus Fleet; her parents, her sisters, Mary Gathing and Anita Jones-Gathing; her brother, Willie Benard, Jr.; two nieces, Cheryl Benard and Carolyn Clark; nephew, Kenneth Benard and friend Beatrice Dunigan.

Funeral services will be at Noon on Saturday, February 9, 2019 in the Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Charles Deloach will officiate the service. Cremation rites will be accorded after the service.
